LDAP Utility is a tool to easy access and manage a LDAP directory on a simple basis. You can
attributes and objects.
The app supports only the LDAP v3 protocol and has been tested with OpenLDAP servers. Accessing active directory servers has not been tested.
The usage is pretty straight forward and self explanory. Some additional features are available especially in a list view when you do a long click on a list item.
TOPTo access a LDAP server a profile must be created. Initially there is an example profile available that connects to a free LDAP directory. This connection is read only.
A server profile needs the following data.
* mandatory
Server profiles can be exported using the menu funtion on the profile screen. The app writes XML files to your chosen location. These files can be edited and imported again. Use this for profile backups.
Storing or im-/exporting profiles needs an upgraded app.
TOPAfter connecting to a server you can browse the directory via the navigation slider on the left hand side.
Clicking on an entry always loads the object into the main view.
For searching objects within the directory there is a search function available in the browser menu.
Executing a search needs an upgraded app.
TOPWithin the browser view the button on the bottom right gives access to the feature of adding an attribute to the current selected object or create a new object.
Creating a new object brings up a wizard that lets you select an object classes first. Structural objects are displayed in bold. After selecting the required classes the next screen will make the attributes editable. Mind the yellow highlighted values. They are mandatory. Also provide a RDN for the new object.
The final screen shows a LDIF summary. After saving the new object successfully it can be viewed via the show button.
